Microsoft Word For Mac Set Email Program
- To set Outlook as default open Apple Mail and go to preferences there will be a setting for default Mail. Set it it to Outlook. Quit Mail after getting out of preferences. Should now work.
- In fact, it can happen to any of the Microsoft Office programs, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and others. Fortunately, Microsoft Office has an option to help deal with situations like this.
If you have multiple email programs on your computer, you can decide which one your system uses by default. Provided you have already added an email account to your Outlook application, you can quickly choose Outlook as your go-to program for email, contacts, and calendar.
In Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for Mac, you can send a file to your contacts right from the application that you're working in. You can send the file as an attachment, in the body of the message, or if the file is located on OneDrive or SharePoint, you can send a link to the file.

How to Make Outlook Your Default Email Program
Changing the settings makes Microsoft Outlook your computer's default application for sending and receiving email messages, storing appointments and reminders on a calendar, and retaining information for your contacts.
Start Outlook.
Go to the File tab.
In the Outlook Options dialog box, select the General tab.
In the Start up options section, select the Make Outlook the default program for Email, Contacts, and Calendar check box.
Select OK to apply the changes and close the Outlook Options window. Windows recognizes Outlook as your default email and calendar program.
What to Do if You Get This Error Message
Did you click an email link in your browser and get this error message:
To fix this error, select a different default email program and then reselect Outlook as your default email program.
